Frequently asked questions

Feel free to ask!

If you don't ask questions, you won't get any answers. Inquiring, informing, asking - it's worth it. Especially when it comes to your telc exam. Here is an overview of the most common and important questions our customers ask - and precise answers from inlingua.

There are two ways to register for a telc exam:

  1. Online, on our website: telc Prüfungen / inlingua-ingolstadt.de, or
  2. in person, at one of our locations (Ingolstadt or Abensberg).

To register in person, you need your valid ID (passport or residence permit) and the examination fee.

The deadline is approximately three weeks before the exam date (subject to availability).

Late registrations are not possible for telc examinations because the examination materials are ordered in advance.

When you register online, you can pay the examination fee by PayPal or by direct debit.

In person, you can pay the examination fee in cash or by card.

Please note that the examination fee is due upon registration.

If you do not attend an examination, the entire examination fee will still be due. The only exceptions are cases of illness confirmed by a doctor's certificate. In this case, please send us the medical certificate by 1 pm on the day of the exam at the latest.

In that case, there are two options:

You can take the exam at a later date, and pay an additional € 25.00 (service fee)

or

we will refund the exam fee, minus a € 25.00 service fee.

Yes, you can retake the exam as many times as you like. Whether you have to take the whole exam (both the written and the oral part) or only a part of the exam depends on the type of exam.

If you retake a failed exam, you can have a passed partial result (written or oral part) of a previous exam credited to you within twelve months of taking the first exam. You then do not need to retake the part of the exam that you passed initially. The result will be credited to your new examination result.

Previous results can only be credited to the same exam (B1 for B1, B2 for B2 etc.). For example, it is not possible to credit your C1 result to a C1 Hochschule exam.

For the dual level exams (A2-B1, B1-B2 and B2-C1), partial results from previous exams cannot be credited.

The best exam preparation is our single training course. Find more information: Prüfungsvorbereitung (inlingua-ingolstadt.de)

You can also find mock tests and learning material on the telc website: Sprachprüfungen bei telc - telc

All telc examinations consist of a written and an oral part and there is a break between those two parts (30-60 minutes).

Before the exam starts, we will collect your phones, smartwatches, watches and other electronic devices. We will return your devices after the exam. Please note that you will not be able to access your devices during the break.

Approximately one week before the exam you will receive an email from us with all the relevant information concerning your exam.

Depending on the level and the number of participants, the exam can take several hours. Please expect the exam to take the whole day and do not make any other appointments.

It is forbidden to use any tools or aids during the exam.

The results will be available 4-6 weeks after the exam. You will receive an email as soon as your certificate can be collected from our office. Please remember to bring proof of ID (ID, residence permit or passport) to collect your certificate.

We can post the certificate within Germany for an additional fee of € 10.00 by registered mail.

A person you trust can pick up your certificate. You must sign an authorisation for this purpose. The person must show the signed authorisation and a valid photo ID when collecting the certificate; otherwise we are not allowed to release the certificate or the exam result.

Your telc certificate is valid indefinitely.
